Your purchase helps to honor and continue this Peruvian tradition.

This multi step process begins by growing the gourds, then on to the harvesting process by selecting and “green scraping” each gourd using a dull knife to shed the outer skin. The gourds are then set to dry naturally in the sun. Next, the Gourd artists creatively draws the design with a pencil adapting to the shape of the gourd. A skillful carver then carefully etches the fine lines with a simple hand chisel. The final step is a technique called pyrography, a process where fire adds the rich shades of blacks and browns. The result is a one-of-a-kind piece to treasure for genertions!

The birdie ornaments are offered in six differnt colors. Allow us to select one for you or mention in the comments section the color you’d prefer.
